The winning titles in the 2008 Alcuin Awards for excellence in Canadian book design will be on display across Canada and internationally. Three Gaspereau Press titles will be included in the exhibits: Robert Bringhurst’s Everywhere Being is Dancing (first prize, non-fiction), Tim Bowling’s The Bone Sharps (tied for second place, prose fiction) and Gaspereau’s Gloriatur Vol. 1 - Poetry, an Anthology (third place, poetry). The venues and dates follow. More details will be added to the Alcuin Society’s website as they become available.

Background

The Alcuin Society was founded in 1965 and promotes the appreciation of fine book creation. This year’s awards were judged by Sue Colberg, Jason Dewinetz and Tim Inkster, who examined 254 books published in 2007. A total of 35 awards were granted in eight categories: Children’s, Limited editions, Pictorial, Poetry, Prose fiction, Prose non-fiction, Prose non-fiction illustrated and Reference.
