Salim Gold
For My Companion
Accompany me, my good companion,
For you are most excellent company,
And make our singleness a mutual
Compact that we doubly dissolve, coupled.
Solo, we’re sundered; but as two, we’re twinned,
And no more drift, but rendezvous, rooted
In our routing—our outing to a room,
That we’ve charted extremities to claim….
So many letters—too many letters—
Have passed—and pass—between us, echoing
Spectral moaning, a substantial yearning,
That’s dissatisfied in its Satisfaction.
But we’re vapours, save we anchor ourselves,
Merging in our converging parallels.
Salim Gold, your poetry is beautiful and fluid. Every word set me on the isle! I really enjoyed all the poems. I write poetry too. I know beautiful poetry when I see one.
