Do we remember only what we must—
When we recall when and where we have loved
Or touched or laughed out loud like fools, giddy
With Pleasure and its plush satisfactions?
Often, there’s dark wine and dove nakedness—
Your angular beauty, your curves swerving
Away from clothes, while the moon swings from clouds
Or the sun leaps up from the sea. To warm….
Let’s say we swig sweat in our wet kisses
As you pull me on you, and there I ply—
While apple blossoms sugar an orchard.
My silver-breast woman, necklaced in gold,
But belted in copper, I remember
We are lovers who rest but seldom sleep.
Â
Salim Gold, your poetry is beautiful and fluid. Every word set me on the isle! I really enjoyed all the poems. I write poetry too. I know beautiful poetry when I see one.
