The Power of Apology

I was swallowed by your rage
Drifting on the corrosive acids that fill your belly
I can see the ravenous rapids of your words
Ready to sink me up ahead
I try to prepare for the rise

Of your voice and palms
And the descent of my words and feelings
Then I spotted a limb on which to hang on to
“I’m sorry” and with that and a hug
The waters went still.
